Obituary

Agnes N. (Aggie) Wiederhold, 96, went home to her Heavenly Father on June 12, 2018, in Custer, SD.

She was born December 3, 1921, to Fred and Gertrude Palmer in Aberdeen, SD.  Aggie grew up on the family farm south of Aberdeen.  She attended country schools and then graduated from Aberdeen Central High School.  She married John Wiederhold on June 25, 1940.  They lived in various locations in South Dakota until John became a game warden.  They moved from Springfield, SD to Hill City in 1958 where they remained until they retired in 1979 and moved to Lebanon, SD.  While in Hill City they owned a motel, a café and a hardware store.  In 2003, Aggie moved to Scottsbluff, NE, with her daughter and son-in-law, Dave and Judi Kennepohl.  She lived there enjoying time as a volunteer at the hospital and as a member of the Salem Congregational Church.  Aggie moved to stay with her sister, Betty, in 2014, and then moved into Wedgwood Assisted Living in Custer in December 2014, which was near her son, Owen and his wife, Carol.  Aggie moved to Custer Senior Care in February of 2018, where she lived at the time of her passing.  Aggie loved her family, traveling with her husband John, gardening, crocheting, sewing, baking, playing the piano and her dog Sammy.

Aggie was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the 8 and 40 Salon of South Dakota and she was very active in any community she lived in.  She was a Girl Scout Leader and leader of the American Legion Auxiliary Juniors in Hill City.

Aggie is survived by George and Dorothy Wiederhold of Rapid City, SD; Carolyn and Robert Bye of Albuquerque, NM; Owen and Carol Wiederhold of Hill City, SD; Judi Kennepohl of Ventura, CA; Jack and Jeanne Gingery of Havre, MT; sister Betty Beyer of Aberdeen, SD;  16 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Among those preceding Aggie in death were her parents, Fred and Gertrude Palmer; husband, John; son-in-law, Dave Kennepohl; grandson, Ryon McDonald; brothers, Glen and Fred, Jr.; and sister, Irene.

Inurnment will be 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018, at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD, alongside her husband, John.  A memorial service will be held that afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Little White Church in Hill City.  The family wishes to thank you and invite you to join them in fellowship and refreshments in the Little White Church fellowship hall immediately after the service.
