Al Fazenbaker, 68, of Custer, SD, passed away September 19, 2021, near Custer, SD.

Services for Elbert "Al" Fazenbaker will be at 1 pm Saturday, September 25, 2021,  at Chamberlain-McColley's Funeral Home, (corner of Sixth and Montgomery Streets) in Custer, with a celebration of life to follow at Rocky Knolls Golf Course on Highway 16 west of Custer.

He was born in 1952 in Pensacola, FL to Elbert Fazenbaker, Sr. and Inez June Fazenbaker. He grew up in numerous places in the United States and in 1988 moved to Rapid City with his wife, Carol. He was raised a Mason in 1993 and completed the 32nd Degree of the Scottish Rite, entering the Shrine shortly thereafter.

He and his wife owned several successful businesses in Rapid City, and recently retired to a ranch near Custer. He was a skilled, self-taught carpenter, plumber and mechanic, the result of being a business owner and property manager. He was a life-long internal combustion enthusiast and took great joy in anything to which an engine was attached. He loved anything fast –– Volkswagons, Harley-Davidsons, cars, trucks, snowmobiles and four-wheelers. Camping in the Black Hills, swapping stories with his friends and his dog, gave him much satisfaction and joy.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his father Elbert, Sr.; his sister, Roxanne and her husband Tim and nephews Brad (Ali) and Matthew (Emily).

A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer, SD.
