Albert Robert Pond, age 81, of Custer, SD, passed away May 11, 2016, at the Custer Regional Senior Center in Custer.

Albert was born February 3, 1935, on Parker's Peak in Fall River County, SD. He worked for the Custer County Highway Department for 55 years.

Albert is survived by his wife, Judy of Custer; two sons, Bert (Lori) Pond of Custer; Wayne (Sue) Pond of Nunda, SD; daughter, Dana Krosch of Custer; two brothers, Bill (Joann) Pond of Rapid City, SD; Lyle Pond of CA; two sisters, Joan (Everett) Dean of Oral, SD; Wilma (Charles) Goodsell of Pringle, SD; sister-in-law, Mary Pond of Edgemont; brother-in-law Richard Britton; three grandchildren, Amanda (Tom) O' Connor of Custer; Shanna Pond and Darren of Rapid City; Chad Pond and Brandi of Rapid City; four step grandchildren, Brand (Melanie) Kopp; Kory Housley; Carrie (Josh) Grey; Shaun (Brenda) Wood; two great grandsons, Ethan and Eli O'Connor ; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Albert was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; two brothers, Ole Pond; Elden Pond; three sisters, Ruth Britton; Ruby Rothleutner and husband, Frank; Violet Whitney and husband, Bob.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer with Pastor Matt Furse officiating. Interment will follow at the Custer Cemetery in Custer. A celebration of life will be held at the Pringle Fire Hall after the committal service.
