Alfred Joseph Kopka, age 85, passed away August 14, 2015, at his home near Custer, SD.
Alfred was born September 11, 1929, in Detroit, MI, to Peter and Isabell (McQuarter). He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII and Korean War.
Alfred worked 30 years at Ford Motor Company. After retiring he and Shirley began farming full time, using Belgium draft horses, in northern Michigan. They moved to their small ranch in Custer County 15 years ago. Alfred enjoyed life and approached everything as an adventure. He had a deep love of nature and animals with his two great passions being Horses and Harleys.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 31 years, Shirley; children, Paula Kopka of Milford, MI; Karen (Terry) DeVault of White Lake, MI; Rhonda Glazer of White Lake, MI; Richard Kopka of Walled Lake, MI; sister, Agnes Farnick of Bloomfield Hills, MI; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry; three brothers, Edward; Albert; Peter and sister, Cecelia.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
