Obituary
Alice K. Wheeler, age 100, of Custer, SD, passed away on December 16, 2015, at the Custer Regional Senior Care Center in Custer.
Alice was born March 7, 1915, in Steamboat Springs, CO, to Walter S. and Marie (Niesz) Kemmer. She received her formal education there in Denver, CO. On December 21, 1944, Alice married Lawrence G. Wheeler in Steamboat, CO. They moved to Deadwood, SD, where Lawrence began his employment with the U.S. Forest Service. After several transfers, Custer became their permanent home in 1961. Lawrence passed away in 1981. Alice was a member of the Chapter AW, P.E.O. of Custer.
Alice is survived by two nephews, Ross Kelly and Walter Kemmer of Colorado Springs, CO.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Ben Kemmer.
Committal services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2016, at the Custer Cemetery with Pastor Tom Opoien officiating.
A memorial has been established in Alice's name at the Custer Lutheran Fellowship.
