Alma R. Steinhauer, age 93, of Custer, SD, passed away on December 23, 2014, at the Golden Living Center-Prairie Hills in Rapid City, SD.
Alma was born on September 17, 1921, in Eureka, SD, to John and Mary (Oster) Braunmeier. Alma obtained her high school diploma in Roscoe, SD. She married Gus Aldinger in July 7, 1940, and worked together alongside Gus in various business pursuits, until his death on November 2, 1982. She then married Paul Steinhauer on June 13, 1984, they shared several years together until his death on January 1, 1995.
Alma will be remembered as a loving wife and mother. She hosted family gatherings at the Gold Discovery Days and holidays up to age 90. Alma also lived independently up to the age 92 and was a member of the Custer Senior Citizens, Custer VFW, and Custer Community Church. Alma enjoyed playing bingo, collecting knick-knacks and stuffed animals, rock hunting, fishing, and shopping at garage sales.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Ruby) Aldinger of Summerset, SD; daughters, Judy (Marlin) Green of Shenandoah, IA; Betty Aldinger of Custer, SD; stepchildren, Larry, Roger, and Patty; brother, Lawrence Braunmeier of Aberdeen, SD; five grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at the Custer Community Church in Custer, with Rev. Floyd and Rev. Norma Mills officiating. Interment will follow at the Custer Cemetery.
