Alta Yvonne Soske was born on October 19, 1938 in Pringle, SD to Lawrence and Bess (Dutton) Burger.   She graduated from Edgemont High School in 1956.    She married Lloyd Soske, Jr. on May 17, 1957.  She graduated from Chadron State College with her Bachelor of Science degree in 1978.   She taught Elementary School in Oral and Hot Springs Public Schools from 1978 to 2000.

Alta, 82, died on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the Seven Sisters Nursing Home in Hot Springs, SD.

She is survived by her husband Lloyd of Hot Springs, SD; her daughter Eugenia (Steve) Neugebauer of Oral, SD; her daughter JoAnne (Tom) Geiser of Hot Springs, SD; her daughter Theresa (Mark) Dawson of Chadron, NE; her brother Paul (Marlene) Kirkpatrick of Riverton, UT; her sister Kristi Osborne of McMinnville, OR; and her aunt Ruth (DuWayne) McGee of Lusk, WY.  Also her grandchildren Casey Neugebauer, Keith (Ronda) Neugebauer, Melissa Geiser (Fiancé, Brian Rhodes), Charles (Kate Shea) Geiser, Sarah Geiser, Sean Dawson (Fiancé, Annie Sebastiani) , and Krysta Dawson; her great grandchildren Sheldon Neugebauer; Aubrey Neugebauer; and Ella Hudson.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Lawrence Burger and Bess King; her siblings Mark Kirkpatrick, Donna Schmidt, and Jim Burger.

Alta is buried in the Edgemont Cemetery in Edgemont, SD.  Memorial donations may be given to the Edgemont Cemetery.
