Anna B. (Ann) Hoffman, age 90, formerly of Harrold, SD, passed away Friday, May 22, 2009 at her home in Custer, SD.

Ann was born on November 7, 1918 at Stanton County, Winside, NE to Emil and Anna (Hanks) Galinat. She had five brothers and three sisters. Ann's family moved to Harrold, SD in 1919, she attended the same country school for eight years.

In 1938 she married Elmer Hoffman. They purchased land and raised Herford cattle and farmed for many years. They also owned the Trail Garage in Harrold. Ann learned how to fix tires, pump gas and cooked for anyone waiting for repairs. Ann also worked at the Harrold Post Office for thirteen years. Ann's hobbies included quilting and playing pool.

Elmer passed away in 2001. In 2003, after living within twenty miles of Harrold for eighty three years, Ann decided to move to Custer to be closer to her daughter.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Schmitz of Custer; grandson, Rick Schmitz and wife, Nancy of Minneapolis, MN and two great grandsons, Luke Schmitz and Jacob Schmitz.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Custer with Pastor Robert Anderson officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the funeral service.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Central Time, Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Medicine Hill Cemetery in Harrold, SD, with Pastor Brian Lemcke officiating.
