Anna W. Powell, 101, of Custer, SD, passed away March 29, 2018, at the Custer Regional Senior Care Center in Custer.

Anna was born March 30, 1916, in Pedro, SD, and was one of ten children born to Dick and Anna (Hamann) Busskohl. She lived her whole life in South Dakota. Anna completed eight years of country schooling and married Walton Powell in 1935. She worked as a dental technician for Dr. A.W. Hermann for fifteen years. Anna has lived in Custer since 1942 and has been a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church since 1943. After retiring in 1978, she then assembled jewelry for C & M Jewelry Co. for thirteen years. In her retirement years, Anna spent her time on arts and crafts.

Anna is survived by her foster daughter, Lillian Phillips of Boise, ID;  daughter-in-law, Debra Powell of Hot Springs; two grandsons, Robert (Jolene) Powell of Custer; Justin Phillips of Boise; four granddaughters, Wendy (Rodney) Huber of Pringle, SD; Melissa Powell of Black Hawk, SD; Taryn Dehl of Boise; Vonna Laue (Bryan) of Winchester, VA; sister, Dorothy Mayer of Isabel, SD;  ten great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, son, Robert C. Powell; five sisters and three brothers.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Custer with Reverend Eric Obermann officiating. Interment will follow at the Custer Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Anna's name to benefit  Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at 744 Harney Street, Custer, SD 57730.
