IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Annette Suellen
Suddendorf
July 25, 1957 – September 15, 2020
Annette Suddendorf, 63 years old, recently of Custer South Dakota, died suddenly at Monument Health in Custer, September 15, 2020.
Annette Holzer was born to parents, Anthony and Dorothy (Renspie) Holzer, in Winona Minnesota July 25, 1957. She grew up in St. Charles and attended Catholic primary school then graduated from St. Charles public school. She attended Winona State University then Winona's Vo-Tech for cosmetology.
Annette loved music. Her enthusiasm for music started with her four older sisters singing at bedtime rather than sleeping. This wasn't always popular with her mom and dad but it did spark a passion for music that evolved into wedding soloist, weekend band member, worship team leader and of course singing with her daughters. It was a weekend band looking for a female singer that introduced her to a permanent duet partner and on October 4, 1980 she married Scott Suddendorf. The two spent 38 years living, working, and raising their two daughters in rural Byron Minnesota and the last 17 years together, bit-by-bit building a retirement home in the Black Hills.
Annette often sought after ways to self-improve including Bible study. She thrived on personal challenges. After a 20-year cosmetology career Annette decided to try something different. She enrolled at RCTC and began taking all of the prerequisites for health sciences finally choosing Dental Hygiene. After graduation she worked for a brief time at Apollo Dental then moved to Lakeside Dentistry. At the end of April 2019 after 19 years she retired from Lakeside. Annette and Scott moved to their cabin in May and traveled south during the cold months.
She is survived by her husband: Scott, daughters: Laura Suddendorf of Minneapolis, Alyssa Suddendorf of Rochester. Sisters: Diana (Wes) Thompson of Mesa AZ, Lynn (Kip) Morsh of Bondurant IA, Louanne (James) Foster of Kellogg MN, Andrea Holzer of St. Charles MN, mother and father in law: Dorothy and Donald Bourquin of Byron MN, sisters in law Susan (Sam) Smith of Stewartville MN, Stephanie Suddendorf of Rochester MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and brother Bobbie.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home of Custer, SD.
