Arnold Leroy Monroe passed away peacefully at the Hot Springs VA at the age of 84, leaving a legacy of love, laughs, and cherished memories. Born on June 19, 1940, in Custer, SD, to Velva Ackley-Moody.
Arnold was raised in Igloo,SD, by his parents, Jim and Velva Moody with his younger brother, Jim. After graduating high school, Arnold went into the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1959 to 1963. Returning home he met the love of his life, Lula Zimiga, and was married on June 27, 1966. Two sons were born to this union; Alan and Anthony (Tony).
He is survived by his sons, Alan Monroe and Tony (Heather) Monroe, all of Hot Springs, SD; Two granddaughters, Ashley Monroe-Stonberger (Cory) of Vassar, KS, Sierra Goodsell, of Hot Springs, SD; Two grandsons, Chad Kelso of Rapid City, SD, Blaine Goodsell of Fort Bragg North Carolina; One great grandson, Carson Stoneberger of Vassar, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lula Monroe and one brother Jim Moody.
Christian Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs, SD.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD.
