Arthur M. 'Jiggs' Mower, age 83, passed away April 15, 2008 at his home in Hot Springs, SD.
Jiggs was born February 5, 1925 to William and Jeanette (Willhoite) Mower in Fort Pierre, SD. He attended Hermosa School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He served our country from 1943 until 1946 when he was honorably discharged.
On December 4, 1946 he married Lucille Norman in Rapid City, SD. He then took telegraphy training from his father and worked as a depot agent for the C&NW Railroad. He worked at several locations around South Dakota before retiring in Hot Springs in 1980.
Jiggs was a member of the United Churches and the Hot Springs Amateur Radio Club.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille of Hot Springs; two sons, Duke (Sherry) Mower of Hot Springs; Charlie (Brenda) Mower of Hot Springs; daughter, Peg (Bill) Waugh of Rapid City, SD; sister, Mary Jane Aduddel of Black Hawk, SD; brother, Bill Mower of New Jersey. Also surviving their Grandpa are grandchildren, Holly; Angie; Spencer; Stephanie; Andrew; Justin; Eric; Andy and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 20, 2008 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs with prayer service at 5:00 p.m.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 21, 2008 at United Churches in Hot Springs with Pastor Morris Nelson officiating.
Committal will be at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD at a later date.
A memorial has been established in Jiggs name to benefit the United Churches in Hot Springs.
