Benjamin "Ben" Lewis Marchand, 19, of Custer, SD, died October 29, 2016, in Vermillion, SD.

Benjamin was born July 29, 1997, in Dear Lodge MT, the son of Kenny and Laura (Moore) Marchand. He attended Custer schools for 12 years and graduated Custer High class of 2016. Ben participated in many activities at Custer High including band, football, wrestling, and track and field. Ben was a member of the National Honor Society. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 25 in Custer and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Ben was an active member of the Custer Lutheran Fellowship Church for 14 years. He was a freshman at University of South Dakota Vermillion majoring in Biology.

He is preceded by grandparents, Emily and Benjamin Marchand of Louisville KY.

Ben is survived by his parents, Kenneth Joseph and Laura Lee (Moore) of Custer; grandparents, Judy and Ken Moore of Plattsmouth NE; several Aunts and Uncles including Cheryl (Moore) and Bernardo Arabalo of Los Angeles CA, cousins, Jacob, Mariah and Raquel; David Moore of Provincetown MA, Larry and Todd Marchand of Dayton OH; cousin, Hannah; Linda (Marchand) and Bruce Scott of Louisville KY, and cousin, Natalee.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00p.m., Friday, November 4, 2016, at the Custer Lutheran Fellowship.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2016, at the Armory in Custer. Ben will be laid to rest at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 7, 2016, at the Fairview Cemetery in Papillion NE.
