Benny Joe Gossel, age 68, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away April 25, 2015, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Benny was born April 30, 1946, in Hot Springs, to Bernard and Mary Ann (Hawk) Gossel.
Benny was a caring, compassionate, giving father; grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He would give you the "shirt off his back" and make sure you had another for the next day. His entire life was of sacrifice and service for his wife, kids, parents, brothers and friends. He had a warm, friendly disposition and anyone who met him loved him immediately. His giving heart touched everyone he met whether it was the smile he shared at the grocery store or a friendly wave as he drove down the street. He had a certain charm about him that was truly contagious and a positive attitude through troubled times that defined him as a person. His strength and perseverance shown through the darkest hours showed his character. He was always strong for the people around him, there to support and comfort no matter the situation.
He enjoyed his career in the car business. His customers held his advice, opinion and direction in the highest regard and where customers turned into friends. He loved what he did and it showed through his work. He was helpful and caring no matter what deal was done. He was most comfortable around cars. Buying cars, fixing cars, rebuilding cars this was his place of comfort and joy. He especially loved sharing his passion with the people around him.
His caring heart was so giving to his beloved wife Terry, when she passed, a big part of him passed as well. He loved her with his entire heart and soul and their love can now live on eternally. His children and grandchildren were also great lights of his life. He will certainly be looking down on them protecting, caring and sending them messages of love throughout their lives.
Benny is survived by his son, Greg Gossel of Shakopee, MN; three daughters, Beth (Dave) Dostal of Lake Mary, FL; Stephanie Menken of Hopkins, MN; Vanessa (Baron) Cooke of Rapid City; two step-sons, Troy (Devon) Pierce of Hot Springs; Sam Pierce, Jr. of Belle Fourche, SD; brother, Jim Gossel of Hot Springs; and fifteen grandchildren.
