Bertha Puterman, 99, passed away March 27, 2010, at her home at Pine Hills Retirement Center in Hot Springs, SD.
Bertha was born March 20, 1911, in Burditchev, Russia, to Samuel and Eva Elkin. In 1935 she married Joseph Puterman in Brooklyn, NY and earned her living as a sales woman of ladies dresses. Bertha lived enthusiastically and took great pleasure in living.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara (Lon) Sharp of Hot Springs, five grandchildren, one great granddaughter, one niece and six nephews.
Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, and son, Samuel.
A celebration of Bertha's life will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Barbara and Lon Sharp's home.
The family suggests that memorials in Bertha's name be sent to the Pine Hills Retirement Center-Employee Fund in Hot Springs.
