Betty Rae Britton, age 83, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010, at her home in Hot Springs, SD.
Betty was born in Hot Springs on August 20, 1927, to Robert and Mamie (Tennyson) Simcox. She attended school in Hot Springs completing the 9th grade then went on to work in various cafes in Hot Springs, California, Utah and Wyoming. On July 3, 1949, she married Robert E. Britton in Belle Fourche, SD. Bob and Betty moved around the west with his career, living in California, Utah and Wyoming. In 1992, upon retiring they returned to Hot Springs.
Betty was a member of the Church of Christ in Hot Springs, a life member of Hot Springs Senior Center, a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a life member of the Elks Lodge.
She loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling to many places throughout her life, eating out and going gambling. She was our family's Betty Boop.
Betty is survived by her son, Richard Alan Britton of Hot Springs; granddaughter, Robin Teresa Lawrence, and grandson, Kerry Alan Britton Aye, both of Sacramento, CA; sister, Mary Lou 'Jimmy' Thompson and husband Roger of Hot Springs; best friend, Kathryn Scott of Hot Springs; many in-laws, out-laws as well as numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2010, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 31, 2010, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs with Dan Barcus officiating. Interment will follow at the Buffalo Gap Cemetery.
