Beverly Gene Bauer, age 80, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away January 6, 2013, at Fall River Hospital in Hot Springs.
Beverly was born at Sumner, MI, October 30, 1932, to Edward C. and Bernice Marie (Wise) Joslin. She lived most of her younger years in Michigan. Beverly married husband Clarence E. "Yogi" Bauer on September 17, 1952. Together they had five children. Beverly had lived in Hot Springs for over 35 years after her husband retired from the Air Force. She and her husband Yogi managed the Pro Shop at the Hot Springs Golf Course for many years. She taught ceramics at her home to local residents providing many hours of instruction and socializing. She also enjoyed making afghans, ceramic center pieces and donating her crafts to organizations. Beverly enjoyed volunteering at her church, American Legion Aux, Hot Springs Hospital Aux (MASH), Hot Springs Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of the Red Hatters for several years. Her family and friends were the center of her life, and her time spent with them was cherished. Beverly was a wonderful mother and grandmother and her loving presence at family get-togethers will be missed.
Survivors include sons, John (Barbara) Bauer of Sioux Falls, SD; James Bauer of Hot Springs; William (Erin) Bauer of Scottsdale, AZ; daughters, LeAnn (Tom) Huyser of Rincon, GA; Melody (Bob) Engebretson of Hot Springs; brothers, Jim (Janet) Joslin of Union City, TN; Fred (Donna) Joslin of Riverdale, MI; Larry Long of Battle Creek, MI; sisters, Joyce (Jule) Clarkson of Waterford, MI; Darlene (Herb) Bush of Largo, FL; Yvonne Turner of Eaton, MI; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She also had two special friends Doris Truth and Donna Cornay, both of Hot Springs.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence (Yogi) Bauer, both parents and brother, Theodore Joslin.
A Vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2013, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2013 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Fr. Tim Hoag officiating. Committal services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
A memorial has been established in Beverly's name to benefit the Fall River Hospital Auxiliary (M.A.S.H) or the Hot Springs Food Pantry.
