Obituary

Beverly JoAnn Bershon, age 83, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away on August 31, 2016, at the Fall River Hospital in Hot Springs.

Beverly was born on April 12, 1933, in St. Joseph, MO, to William E. and Emma Elliott. The family moved to Charleston, SC, Houston, TX, and Denver, CO. She graduated high school from Lee Academy in Cleveland, TN. On April 2, 1955, she married Richard Y. Bershon in Denver. Beverly continued her higher education over several years and in a few different schools, completing with a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Arizona in 1974. She taught high school and some college level courses, as she traveled with her husband when he served as a Pastor, Army and VA Chaplain. Since 1995, she lived in Hot Springs where her husband was Chaplain at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home until he retired.

Happy to have shared in her life are her husband of 61 years, Richard Bershon; son, Paul (Pam) Bershon; daughter, Denise (Wally) DeRossette; grandsons, Brett and Lee De DeRossette; Joshua Bershon; granddaughters, Breanna and Jessica Bershon; brother, Winston (Lucille) Elliott; sisters, Maxine (Ross) Gardner; Doris Springer; Barbara Hatchett; as well as numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruth Doughtery and brother, George Elliott.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 5, 2016, at The United Churches in Hot Springs with Pastor Norman Gardner and Pastor Clint Walker officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to funeral services. Interment will be held 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.

A memorial in Beverly's name has been established to benefit the Church of God World Missions or The United Churches Haiti Missions.
