Obituary

Beverly Helen Brinkman was born on May 16, 1944 in Greeley, Colorado to Fred and Helen Brinkman. She had three older sisters and one younger brother.

Beverly spent all her childhood growing up on a farm West of Ault, Colorado and attended all twelve years of schooling in Ault, graduating from Ault High School in 1961. She worked at the local market in Ault during her senior year and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ault.

She married in 1962 and one daughter, Tammy, was born to this union. After graduation she worked at the A & W Drive in Eaton, a department store in Greeley, the Greeley potato chip company as a quality control checker, the blue jean manufacturing company and the Greeley Police Department as a meter maid.

In 1969 she remarried and after residing in Lincoln, Nebraska for six months moved to Edgemont, South Dakota. Over the years a son, Dennis, and daughter, Jennifer were added to the family. From 1969 to 1978 she worked at the Jack and Jill Grocery and in August 1978 began delivering mail by a rural mail route working out of Edgemont. She continued this for twenty-four years, no matter what the weather or road conditions were. She then worked at the Edgemont Post Office as a PMR for three and a half years, retiring April 1, 2006.

In March of 1989 she united in marriage to Donald Lair of Alliance, Nebraska and they continued to reside in Edgemont, South Dakota. He passed away October 1999.

Through the years Beverly served and held offices in different organizations including nine years of Girl Scouts, several years of Rebekahs, twenty-nine years with the Edgemont Ambulance Service, and a few years as President in the Parks and Recreation Department with the City of Edgemont. She attended the United Church of Edgemont and was proud to be a Congregationalist. She also took up the art of quilting and found one of her true loves.

Her special pride and joy were her grandchildren: Mataiya Noel and Haleigh Danielle of Custer, SD; Jordan Aline and Brady Dennis of Delaware; and Sarah Nicole of Rapid City, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Grateful to have shared in her life are her children: Tammy Hollinger of Rapid City, SD; Dennis Vossberg of Belleville, IL; Jennifer Hart of Custer, SD; Brother Ronald Brinkman of Greeley, CO, three sisters, Eleanor Biggs of New Hampton, MO; Shirley Hirsch of Ault, CO. and Janice White of Hilo, HI.
