Blanche Myhre Rhine, age 94, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away April 12, 2012, at the South Dakota State Veterans Home in Hot Springs.
Blanche was born March 3, 1918, in Hardin, MT, to Hans F. and Agnes P. (Myhre) Jensen. She attended school in Hardin, Mt, graduating in 1936. After school Blanche accepted a position in Seattle, WA, as personal assistant to Dean Roberts of the Seattle School of Mines. She served in the WAAC and WAC from October 1942, until May 1948. From May 1944 until February 1946, Blanche served in the European Theater. She was employed at Fort Carson, CO, prior to moving to Sheridan, WY in 1961, she worked for the VA Medical Center in Sheridan, retiring in 1985, after 35 years of service. Blanche was a member Missouri Synod Lutheran Church.
Survivors include sons, John F. Rhine of Huron, SD, and granddaughter, Rachael; Robert M. Rhine of Burleson, TX, daughter-in-law, Twila, three grandchildren, Tesha, Storey and Hunter and four great-grandchildren, Jayce; Lake; Trulee and Lakelynn; and sister, Gloria Erpenbach of Billings, MT.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Private family services will be held in Hardin, MT.
A memorial has been established in Blanche's name to benefit the Humane Society in Huron, SD.
