Bonnie Elaine Grass Holloway, age 77, of Smithwick, SD, passed away October 19, 2010 at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD, with her family by her side.
Bonnie was born May 4, 1933 in the Norris area, Mellette County, SD, to Orval and Olive (Burgess) Grass. Bonnie was sister to Royce, Dick and Arlo Grass. Her family moved to Rapid City, SD and it was there that she met Raymond Holloway. They were married on June 16, 1950. During their sixty years together, they were blessed with three boys, Rick, Mike and Bob and one daughter, Sandy.
Bonnie had many talents, among them cooking, baking, crocheting, needle and bead work and sewing. Bonnie and Ray were also Teamsters at the Days of 76 in Deadwood for over 20 years. For many years, Bonnie drove her own team of mules through the Days of 76 parades as Annie Tallent.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Raymond of Smithwick, her sons Mike and wife, Laurie of New Underwood and Bob of Smithwick; her grandchildren, Brandi Thunderhawk of Centerville, TX, JJ Holloway of Humbolt, SD, Tina Holloway of Rapid City and Amanda Holloway of New Underwood; great grandchildren, Ashley and Randy Thunderhawk of Centerville, TX; brother in law Dallas Holloway and wife, Mary of Smithwick, sisters-in-law Johnna Grass and Betty Grass, both of Rapid City and numerous nieces, nephews and family friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, her daughter Sandy and her son Rick.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 24, 2010, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs, SD.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 25, 2010, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 25, 2010 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
