Brandon James Mechaley, 18, of Custer, SD, was born September 1, 1991, and died October 25, 2009, as the result of an automobile accident in Kansas.
Brandon loved hunting, fishing, four wheeling, rock collecting and many other outdoor activities. He loved living in the Black Hills area and never missed an opportunity to go outdoors with family and friends. He also loved playing his Xbox and listening to his favorite band ACDC. He was also the James Bond expert.
In school Brandon was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and in the fall of 2008, he proudly joined the National Guard. He spent his last summer at his boot camp training with his unit Echo Company, 787th Military Police Battalion, 14th Military Police Brigade.
Survivors include his parents, Marty and Jennifer Mechaley, Custer; one sister, Brittany Mechaley, and two brothers, Bradley and Brady all of Custer; grandparents, Pete Dunker of Wall, SD; Betty Dunker of Phillip, SD; Karen Mechaley of Rapid City, SD; Uncle Ryan Mechaley & wife Kristina and children Emerson, Patrick and Lizzie of Pierre, SD; Aunt Trish Levin & husband Craig and children Carson and Logan of Rapid City, SD; Uncle Bruce & wife Lynn and children Sidney, Alexa and Sean Dunker, Wall; a special cousin, Todd Lambert of Colorado; special great-uncle Jack and great-aunt Diann Delaney of Rapid City as well as a host of other great aunts, uncles, family and friends.
Brandon was preceded in death by his grandfather, Pat Mechaley.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Middle School Armory in Custer.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Custer Middle School Armory with Pastor Charles Aldrich officiating. Interment will follow at the New Underwood Cemetery in New Underwood, SD.
A memorial has been established in Brandon's name.
