Brigitta Thompson of Hot Springs, SD departed this world on December 4, 2016, in Hot Springs after a brave battle with Pulmonary Melanoma for one year.
Brigitta Thompson was born September 18, 1945, in Worms, Germany, to Ewald and Elisabeth Fost. She immigrated to the US in 1958, and lived in Kansas City, KS, also Colorado Springs, CO, and became a US Citizen on September 4, 1958.
Brigitta married Wayne D. Clemens in 1963, and had two daughters Cindy and Jennifer. After a difficult first marriage, she met the love of her life, James G. Thompson and they were wed on July 2, 1987, until his passing January 14, 2016. They lived in Colorado Springs, CO, until 2001, when they moved to Hot Springs, SD.
She graduated from Cosmetology school in 1977, and worked for a brief time as a Cosmetologist before taking a job at Walter Drake and Sons as an Administrative Assistant from 1980-1990. Between 1990 and 2001, she was an Administrative Assistant for Peoples Natural Gas and Atmel. She studied to become a CNA and worked at the Veterans Hospital in Hot Springs, SD.
Brigitta had a love for knitting and crocheting, spending hours making beautiful afghans, scarves and hats for loved ones. She found so much joy in working in her garden and yard and could name every plant she saw. She found peace and joy relaxing on the deck and watching the wildlife and people.
Her laughter, her smile and her very presence will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Denise Clemens; Jennifer Lynn Watts (Rodney); stepchildren, James Thompson (Marlena); John Thompson (Amy); Stacey Thompson as well as 10 Grandchildren.
Family committal services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 8, 2016, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
