Calvin "Neil" Moulton was born January 23, 1938, in Pierre, South Dakota to Calvin and Eva Moulton.
Neil and Mary were married in Pierre August 2, 1958 the same day the Missouri river was closed by the Oahe Dam. Neil was a Mechanical Engineer starting his career in Salt Lake City and New York state with Dupont working with high explosives. He then moved to Irving, Texas and went to work for LTV designing ejection sets to cluster bombs for Navy fighter planes. He ended his career in Hollister, California with Pratt & Whitney as a project manager controlling the design, manufacturing and marketing of solid propellant motors for Tomahawk and Standard Cruise missiles systems. Neil and Mary retired in 2004 moving back to Denton, Texas to live near their son Mark and family.
Mary died July, 2009 while visiting on one of their trips to South Dakota. Neil moved back to South Dakota in 2010, had a cabin built on a wooded lot. (he wanted a lot of trees) He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and the South Dakota lifestyle. He loved Custer and its people. He said often, he knew and had more friends here than any place he had ever lived… Good Bye all!!
Neil died June 16, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital, he was 74.
Survivors include his son, Mark (Barbara) Moulton; grandsons, Michael, Justin, and grand-daughter, Amanda of Denton, TX. Brother, Dennis (Minnie) Moulton of Custer, nieces, Laura and Cindy, nephew, Keven and their families.
Memorial services will be held at McColley's Chapel of the Hills Thursday, July 5, 2012, at 10:00 am.
The family suggests Memorials go to the Rocky Knolls junior golf program.
