Calvin "Cal" Lowe, age 81, of Hot Springs, SD, died October 16, 2006 at Castle Manor Nursing Home in Hot Springs, SD.

Cal was born September 9, 1925 in Canistota, SD, to Amos and Alice (Hughes) Lowe. He attended and graduated from high school in Madison, SD. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1944-1946.

Cal worked for John Morrell Packing Company in Madison, in addition to, he worked in Tax Preparation, Insurance Sales and Real Estate. He lived in Madison until Christmas of 1971, moved to Hot Springs and dove into the restaurant business. Later he purchased Larvie Lake Resort and continued to maintain his restaurants while operating his new campground.

Cal married Mary L. Grabow on August 11, 1946. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and political groups. Cal enjoyed doing carpentry work, feeding wildlife, dancing, hunting, fishing, traveling and loved to socialize.

Cal is survived by his son, Daniel (Beverly) Lowe of Custer, SD; two daughters, Jane (Rod) Reynolds of Hot Springs, SD; Theresa (Pete) Maas of Hot Springs, SD; two brothers, Robert (Betty) Lowe of Madison, SD; Mike (Marilyn) Lowe of Everett, WA; sister, Annie Holter of Madison, SD; five grandchildren, Cory, Lance, Carrie, Chris and Nick; two great grandchildren, Grace and Emily; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Rose Speaect of Hot Springs, SD.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, October 19, 2006 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs, SD.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Friday, October 20, 2006 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs with Pastor Douglas Free officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs. Military Honors will be provided by the Hot Springs Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Hot Springs Ambulance Service.
