Candido Raymond Torres, Jr., age 67, left this life on April 8, 2014, at the Fall River Hospital in Hot Springs, SD. He was born on March 6, 1947, in Hot Springs, SD to Dolores and Candido R. Torres, Sr.
Candido will be remembered as a very special son and brother to his family. He always had a warm smile and a friendly "hello" to all who came in contact with him. He loved to sing old songs he learned as a child from his mother, Dolores, and was quite a jokester. Candido thrived in his work and responsibilities at the Black Hills Special Services Workshop in Hot Springs, where he worked for many years. His family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to all the staff at Black Hills Special Services Cooperative for providing an environment where he could partake and practice new skills. The family also wishes to thank the caregivers at the Minnekahta House who provide a loving and safe home for Candido for so many years.
Survivors include sisters, Maria Riley of Lawrence, KS; Evangeline (Robert) McClaren of Custer, SD; Eleanor Ribordy of Northglenn, CO; and Magdalena Atkinson of Glenwood Springs, CO; brothers, Jose B. Torres of Rockford, IL; Gonzalo (Marilyn) Torres of Rapid City, SD; Javier (Arvella) Torres of Lead, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father Dolores and Candido Torres, Sr., a brother Theodore Torres, a sister, Beatrice Consuelo Torres and a nephew, Tracy Torres,a great nephew Christopher Capps.
Wake will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday April 11, 2014, at St. James Catholic Church in Edgemont, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at St. James Catholic Church in Edgemont, SD with Father Kerry Prendiville officiating.
Interment will be in Edgemont Cemetery immediately following the funeral.
