In Loving Memory of Carl William Atchley

March 1, 1942 – February 12, 2025

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Carl William Atchley, who left this world peacefully at home on February 12, 2025. He was a devoted father, a proud Air Force veteran, and a man of unwavering integrity who left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Born on March 1, 1942, Carl proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. His dedication to his country was a source of immense pride, a reflection of his steadfast commitment to service and honor. After his military service, he pursued his education, earning a bachelor's degree in business from NCB College in 1970. His career led him to work with the government in Colorado, where his knowledge and dedication made a lasting impact.

Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Donna; children, Terri Feeney and her family, Chuck Rickertson, Jonathan Rickertson, Jennifer Ross, Stephanie Pangburn; David (Shannon Livesay) and their family, Amanda Owen; Steven (Jene') Owen and their family, David Carl Owen, Cadence Owen; Tracy Kilmer and her family, Nicole Hammond, Alia Senn, Joseph Kilmer Jr.; Dustin (Samantha) Atchley and their children, Danielle Wynia, Aaron Atchley; grandchildren, Joshua Scott and Brandon Scott, 12 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren, brother, Dennis Atchley and sister, Ruth Ann Atchley.

He is predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Mary Ann Atchley; one daughter, Tamara Scott; brothers, Herb Atchley and Robert Atchley.

He found his greatest joy in traveling, especially on cruises, where he embraced life's adventures with enthusiasm. He took great pride in both his military service and education, values he instilled in his family.

A celebration of Carl's life will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., at the Ameican Legion in Hot Springs, SD. Potluck will follow, please bring side dishes to share.
