Carolyn (McKillip) Jensen, age 64, passed away April 18, 2013 at her home in Hot Springs, SD.
Carolyn was born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD, on August 6, 1948, to William and Berniece (Snap) McKillip. She moved to the Hot Springs area in the late 1960's.
Carolyn met Gary Jensen and they were married in September of 1970. They raised two children; daughter, Shari and son, Robert. She spent almost all of her adult life as a law enforcement dispatcher and was the first female police officer hired by the VA in Hot springs in 1978. Outside of her family, Carolyn's greatest love in life was a love of horses, which she carried to her grave.
Carolyn had a strong unbending faith in Christ and prayed for family and friends to accept what has happened without question, but to move on with their lives and enjoy each moment that they have. Carolyn wants you to know that if you want to remember her, look into the eyes of a horse and if you want to see her look into the eyes of her children.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the Assembly of God (Fountain of Life) Church with Pastor Ed Cutler officiating. Committal services will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Gary of Hot Springs; son, Robert (Tracy) Jensen of Fairbanks, AK; daughter, Shari Kay (Duane) Thompson of North Carolina; mother, Phondora Bernice McKillip of Pringle, SD; five brothers, Bill McKillip of Wentworth, SD; Robert McKillip of Sioux Falls; Mike McKillip of Colton, SD; Barry McKillip, of Mickleton, NJ; Mark McKillip of Anthol, ID; sisters, Kathleen Best of Edgerton, MO; Sharon Lewis of Pringle; Gayle Brown of Sioux Falls; Betty Best of Sioux Falls; Linda Hansen of Sioux Falls; Barbara Bradfield of Sioux Falls, and five grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father and four brothers.
