Obituary

Charles Nathaniel 'Chuck' Bergeron, 70, of Custer, SD, passed away September 28, 2018, at the VA Medical Center in Ft. Meade, SD.

Chuck was born in Waterville, ME, on November 12, 1947, to Charles H. and Eleanor (Knowls) Bergeron. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. from 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1970 as a Sergeant.

Chuck and Darlene 'Doe' Gould were married March 12, 1970, in Ware. MA, and moved from Ware to Custer in June 1974. Chuck worked for Custer County Road Department for 6 years. He then sought an opportunity to work for Jacobs Ranch Mine near Wright, WY, in 1980 and climbed his way up to work as a Shovel Operator to which he retired as in 2010.

Chuck enjoyed his time with family and friends with always finding time to make new ones along the way. He would always find time to chat with anyone who would listen wherever he was. This always ended with those who enjoyed him, blending into his family/friend's category. Chuck and Doe enjoyed traveling around the country camping at various places including Spring Creek and Angostura. Boating became an enjoyment while at Angostura that lead to teaching water skiing and fishing, or at least attempting to fish there and on the Missouri River to where he kept the story of Troy catching a sea gull quicker than any fish he would ever catch. Chuck bowled with Doe for several years. After becoming empty nesters, Chuck and Doe bought motorcycles and enjoyed riding around with family and friends they met along the way.

Chuck is preceded in death by his father, Charles Bergeron; mother, Eleanor Knowles-Bergeron-Rushford and brothers, Richard and Linwood Bergeron.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Darlene 'Doe' of Custer; sons, Boyd (Laci) of Custer; Troy (Carrie) of N. Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, (Boyd's) Micheal, Andrew, Kaytlyn, Madysen, Austyn and Jordyn. (Troy's) Sophia; great grandchildren, Adrian and Maycie Jo.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the Custer Community Church with Pastor Dustin Bartlett and Pastor Bill Jeffery officiating. Interment will follow at the Custer Cemetery.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer, SD.
