Charles Vernon "Tony" Ramer, age 63, of Custer, SD, passed away on October 1, 2017, at the Custer Regional Hospital in Custer.

Tony was born on December 11, 1953, to Phyllis and Charles Ramer in Jamestown North Dakota. He grew up on a ranch near a wildlife refuge in Kensal, ND. As a young man, he enjoyed breaking, riding, and raising horses. He had a love of animals, nature, and the outdoors.

He started raising bees, which led him to Idabel, OK, where he met and married Karen Smith. To this union Robert was born. He moved back to North Dakota, where he met and married Janice Sangrait. To this union Cody, Jeremy, and Jesse were born. They moved to Custer, SD, in 1992. He married Bonnie Nielsen in 2013. Together they merged 2 families of kids and grandkids.

Tony was a self-taught artist, carving wildlife in moose antlers. He took great pride in his work, and had gifted his work to several presidents. He enjoyed hunting, shooting, and anything that got him outside in nature. He liked to visit, and had a mischievous sense of humor. When you visited, you always kept your eyes on him, so he didn't jump out and scare you. He enjoyed telling stories of his escapades, hunts, and pranks. He enjoyed older vehicles, and was renovating a '52 Chevy 1-ton Pick-up that had seats in the back for the grandkids to ride in parades. He had a heart of gold, buried in an incredible stubbornness. He was willing to help with anything asked of him.

Tony is survived by mother, Phyllis of Kensal, ND; wife, Bonnie of Custer SD; sons, Robert of Cleveland OK; Cody (Stephanie) Austin, TX; Jeremy (Nicole) Lebanon, CT; Jesse (Nikki) of Mead, CO; and stepchildren, Lauren (Shem) Sigafoos of Hot Springs, SD; Justin (Katelyn) Nielsen Hartford, SD; and Caitlan (Cedric) Williams Rapid City, SD. He enjoyed his grandkids Devon, Nathan, Meridth, Bella, Lily, Kinzley, Monty, Faith, Teddy, Jacoby, Emma, and Robin; 9 brothers and sisters: Val (Patti) Ramer, Patrick, Hubert, James (Karin), Joe (Shawnae), Ione Siedlinger, Kate(Rad) Nicholson, Mary (Mitch) Ova, Lucy Ramer. Parents in law Pat & Sharon Kenefick Hot Springs, SD.

Visitation will be held 6:00 -8:00 p.m., Friday, October 6, 2017, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Crossroads Church in Custer with Pastor Neil Magnuson officiating.

Committal services will follow at the Custer Cemetery in Custer.
