Obituary
Charlotte Wylene Compton, age 80, passed away on October 22, 2016, at the Custer Regional Senior Care Center in Custer, SD.
Charlotte was born on November 12, 1935, in Albion, NE, to James and Henrietta (Tiede) Sutton. She married Lewis Junior Compton of Moon, SD, on June 16, 1957, in Albion. They lived several years in Custer then moved to Hill City in 1963 where they lived until her death. Charlotte worked at several cafés in Hill City and had her Avon route. They owned a laundromat in Hill City, which she ran for five years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers, two granddaughters and a nephew.
Charlotte is survived by her husband, Lewis J. Compton of Hill City; four children, Lewis James (Charlene) Compton of Custer, SD; Kathy (David) Chamberlain of Estelline, SD; Becky (Vern) Huber of Huron, SD; Jon (Tammy) Compton of Helena, MT; one sister, Helen of Omaha, NE; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and two nieces.
Visitation will be held 4:00p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 27, 2016, Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hill City with Pastor Eric Obermann officiating. Interment will follow at the Hill City Cemetery.
