Charlotte M. Spears, 82, of Hot Springs, SD passed away February 24, 2008 at the Fall River Hospital in Hot Springs.

Charlotte was born October 11, 1925 in Aufhausen, Germany to Heinrich and Maria (Koehle) Strobel. She spent her childhood in Stuttgurt, Germany and later moved to Erhangen, Germany where she worked until the end of World War II. From 1945 until 1956 she lived and worked for her sister. In 1957 Charlotte came to the United States and worked for Mr. and Mrs. Eisenbraun in Hot Springs. She married Sam Spears on December 5, 1962. From 1965 on they made their home in Buffalo Gap until Sam passed away February 27, 1999.

Survivors include two sons, Howard (Mavis) Spears of Gillette, WY; Richard (Amelia) Spears of Hot Springs; one sister in law, Lois Rampon of Auburn, CA; three grandchildren, Sherry (Erik) Korsmo of Spokane, WA; Michael Spears of OR; Mary Spears of Pierre, SD as well as many friends and numerous nephews and nieces back in Germany.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Mary; one brother and one sister.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. thru 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs with Fr. Peter Kovarik officiating.

Committal Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
