Clarence Ollie Britain, Jr., 81, of Oelrichs, SD, died November 13, 2008, at the V.A. Medical Center, Hot Springs, SD.
Clarence was born November 6, 1927 in Oelrichs to Clarence Ollie Britain, Sr. and Esther Sophia (Dryden) Britain. He served in the U.S. Army during the Occupation of Japan. In April 1950 he married Elva Romey of Hot Springs.
Clarence is survived by four daughters and one son from this marriage: Rene' Anderson and spouse Craig, Belle Fourche, SD; their children, Alan Anderson, Derby KS, and Kimberly Zeidler, Black Hawk SD; Rita Britain and spouse Kent Doughty, Hot Springs; Ramona Ast and spouse Fred and daughter Kirsten Zuidema; Loveland, OH; Rachelle Christman and spouse Patrick, Oelrichs, and Rachelle's children Jessica Dryden, Chadron, NE, Lisa Dryden, Eagle Butte, SD, and Allen Dryden, Oelrichs; and Galen Britain and spouse Lori Vosika-Britain, children Chance and Charity Britain, Hot Springs. Clarence is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, his brother, Maynard (LeMay) Britain, Oelrichs, sister, Caroldean Magden, South Sioux City, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Phyllis Ernest and grandson Nathaniel Dryden.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs with Dr. J. Edwin Coates officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Oelrichs.
