Obituary

Cody Glenn Engen was a good hearted son, protective big brother, faithful friend, and a round the clock comedian like his Grandpa Glenn. His brief life of twenty-two years ended on September 6th, 2011.

After twelve hours, Cody entered the world on January 18, 1989 and lived for eighteen years in the Black Hills of South Dakota. At the ripe old age of five he declared he was going to join the Marines when he could.

On September 11, 2001 at the age of twelve he watched the Trade Towers fall and told his mother to drive the car so they could get to the Marine recruiters to sign him up. Well, he waited until he graduated from Custer High School in 2007 and left the next day for the Marine Recruiting Depot in San Diego, California.

Cody was trained as a scout/sniper with the 2nd Light Armored Recon Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and served in OIF and OEF. He was honorably discharged in May 2011.

His parents Dan R. and Priscilla Engen and little sister Josie would like to thank his many friends and mentors who guided him on his twenty two year adventure.

Cody's life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Bavarian Restaurant in Custer with inurnment at the Black Hills National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Thank you Cody for the privilege to know you, may you touch as many lives in your going as you did in your coming in, we'll miss you.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Custer. Written condolences may be made at www.mccolleyschapels.com.
