Cora 'Agnes' (Morgan) Kline, 94, of Custer, SD, passed peacefully May 5, 2018, at the Custer Regional Hospital in Custer.
Agnes was born July 9, 1923, at home in Studley, KS, the second daughter of Robert Thomas and Nettie Agnes (Gunter) Morgan. In April, 1924, the family moved to rural Custer County, SD, engaging in farming and ranching. The family moved to Custer in 1927. A third child, Harold Franklin Morgan, was born August 10, 1928. Agnes attended school in Custer, graduating in 1941. After short stints at Sioux Falls College and nurses training, she married Master Technical Sergeant Allen Morrell Kline on January 23, 1945, in Denver, CO. Following his discharge from the USMC in September, 1945, the couple moved to Boise, ID, where their son, Robert Allen Kline, was born on August 19, 1946.
Following short tenures in Boise; Hood River, OR; and Custer; the family moved to the Seattle, WA, area, where Allen was employed by The Boeing Company from 1976, until 1982. Allen and Agnes returned to school in 1968, graduating from the University of Washington, then earning Master's Degrees in Public Administration from the University of Puget Sound in 1976. Agnes worked for Camp Fire Girls from 1963 until 1976 and The Boeing Company from 1976 until 1982.
Leisure time was spent on various golf courses, a lifelong pursuit. Agnes was active in a variety of organizations - a life member of The American Legion Auxiliary, a life-long Republican, and the Order of the Eastern Star, where she a Past Grand Matron. She was also a life member of the Custer Senior Center and the Custer Order of the Eastern Star. Agnes was also Past Grand Matron of SD OES. Family history was another interest, taking Agnes to London and Isle of Wight to continue her research of the Morgan family history. After retiring in 1982, the Kline's spent winters in Palm Desert, CA, and summers in Seattle, WA. In 1989, they moved "home" to Custer.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Margie Roberta Morgan; brother, Herold Franklin Morgan; nephews, Mark Morgan and Matthew Morgan.
Agnes is survived by her son, Robert Allen (Mayte) Kline of Willow Street, PA; grandsons, David James (Glenda) Kline of Pringle, SD; Michael Steven (Pam) Kline of Canton, MI; great-grandchildren, Amanda Nicole and Joshua Robert Kline, of MI; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date.
I lieu of flowers, the family recommends memorials in Agnes' name be made to the Pringle Volunteer Fire Department.
