IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cordell O.
Roeszler
March 18, 1948 – December 21, 2025
Cordell "Cord" Roeszler passed away December 21, 2025, at the Michael Fitzmaurice South Dakota Veterans Home in Hot Springs, SD at age 77. He was born March 18, 1948 to Ade and Mazie Roeszler, in Jamestown, ND.
Cord grew up on the family farm, which was just below the current Pipestem Dam location. Hunting and outdoor adventures in the Pipestem valley, with his brothers and friends, was a big part of his childhood life. His teenage years were active with cars, girls, (occasionally beer), and fun – and still finding time for 4-H and FFA.
After high school, Cord joined the U.S.Army, via the Vietnam era volunteer draft option, in 1967, and served stateside until he was discharged in 1969. He received his Certified Welding degree from the Colorado School of Certified Welding of Colorado Springs, in the early seventies.
He owned and operated Frontier Welding Services for over 20 years – in the Jamestown area.
In the mid-nineties he moved to Boulder Canyon by Sturgis, SD and later bought a small ranch in Nisland, SD. He continued doing welding and fabrication, even working on the metal sculptures that were at the entrance of the well-known Buffalo Chip Campground.
Buying, selling and enjoying classic cars – especially Corvettes, was a constant piece of Cord's life, up to about 2015.
Medical issues forced Cord to a Custer nursing home in 2018, and he later moved to the veteran's home in Hot Springs.
Surviving Cord is his daughter Dawn (Mark) Theis of Shakopee, MN, granddaughter Vannessa Gunnell (Ethan) and great-grandsons Truman and Desmond of Provo UT, grandsons Tanner and Skyler, brother Roger (Tracy) Roeszler of Custer, SD, niece, Ana Roeszler (Rob) of Portland,OR, and nephew Nik Roeszler of Milwaukee, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and older brother Bill.
A Celebration of Life for Cord will be held in Jamestown in the spring – date and location will be announced at that time.
Arrangement have been entrused to Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home
