Corliss Y. Calhoun, 81, life long resident of Hot Springs, SD passed away May 5, 2006 at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Corliss was born May 4, 1925 to Charles Y. and Midget (Pond) Young in Hot Springs, SD. She graduated from the Hot Springs High School in 1943 and then married Robert D. Calhoun May 10, 1945 in Hot Springs.
Corliss retired from her position as Ambulatory Care Supervisor at the VAMC in Hot Springs in 1980 after serving the veterans for 33 years.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Robert D. Calhoun of Hot Springs, SD; daughter, Bonnie M. (Lester) Kroeger of Vienna, VA; granddaughters, Shannon Kroeger of Manassas, VA; Leah (Ryan) Hatcher of Washington, DC; sisters, Edna (Stanley) Gilbert of El Paso, TX; Bonnie D. Zink of Dauphin Island, AL; Betty (Bud) Henrich of Absarokee, MT; and Joan (Jim) Harnagel of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Corliss was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May, 10, 2006 at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Hot Springs with Rev. Wayne Ahrens officiating.
Committal Services will be held at 2:30 pm, Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
In lieu of flowers the family has established a memorial in Corliss' name to benefit the Bethesda Lutheran School in Hot Springs.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs, SD.
