Obituary
Dale Lynn Robinson, age 94, of Oelrichs, SD, passed away July 6, 2011, at the Crestview Nursing Home in Chadron, NE.
Dale was born at the rural home of his homesteader parents, Clarkston and Virginia (Massey) Robinson on June 20, 1917, in Fall River County, SD. He lived his life farming and ranching on this land. He married Lena F. Bower in 1941 in Beckley, WV, after which Dale and Lena moved into a home hear his parents.
Dale was a self-taught mechanic and carpenter, He could field repair any piece of equipment. Dale enjoyed gardening and was a voracious reader of a wide range of materials, from dime store westerns to National Geographic. He lived through the Great Depression, World War II and the space race.
In late 2005, Dale moved to Crestview Care Center to be with his brother, Vincent. At Crestview, Dale enjoyed visiting with college students and being interviewed about everything from Model T's to the needs of the elderly. Dale lived there until his death.
Dale is survived by his second cousin, Barbara Lukens of Hot Springs, SD, as well as seven nieces and seven nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarkston and Lena; wife, Lena and his brother, Vincent.
The family will be represented by Barbara Lukens and a great niece, Karina Ortigoza Thompson and husband, Everett of Clarks Grove, MN.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 11, 2011, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs, SD, with Pastor Morris Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs.
