Daniel Arthur Winkler, 75, of Hill City/Custer, SD, died February 28, 2007 at his home surrounded by loving family.
Dan was born April 20, 1931 and was the adopted son of Arthur Max Winkler and Clara (Cinek) Winkler.
Dan proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. Since 1990 the Black Hills have been home to Dan. He enjoyed spirited discussions, reading, fishing, woodworking, family gatherings, pets, fair play and humor.
He leaves behind his wife, Carolyn of Hill City/Custer, SD; five children, Ed (Julie) Winkler of Custer, SD; Pamela Ishii of Omaha, NE; Judith Robison of Hill City, SD; Bawn (Chris) Froning of Omaha, NE and Kristine Froning Duvall of Custer, SD. We loved him deeply and were grateful we were part of each other's lives.
He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Bob (Terri) Craig of Hill City/Custer, SD and by a number of precious grandchildren and great grandchildren.
An informal gathering of family and friends will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the Super 8 Meeting Room, third floor, in Hill City, SD.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Dan's name to benefit the Salvation Army.
