Darrel Levi Harwood, 79, of Hot Springs, SD, formerly of Florence, CO, passed away February 11, 2012 in Canon City, CO. He was born in Rapid City, SD on April 16, 1932 to Tanner and Edith (Walthall) Harwood.

Darrel was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. In 1960, he was united in marriage to Marie Miller; who preceded him in death. He moved to Colorado in 1966; and was a lifetime member of Local #58 Pipefitters Union. His hobbies included attending Mountain Man Rendezvous, fishing, hunting and was an avid woodworker.

Darrel is survived by his son, Lloyd (Shelly) Harwood of Canon City, CO; grandchildren, Riley and Truman; and brothers, Encel (Sheila) Harwood of Florence, CO and Arlo (Arita) Harwood of Oregon. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Della and Bobbi, and brother, Gordon.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00pm, Saturday, February 18, 2012 at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs, SD. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs, SD.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the South Dakota State Veterans Home at 2500 Minnekahta Ave., Hot Springs, SD 57747.
