David Allen Gehman, 74, of Rapid City, SD, formerly of Edgemont, SD, passed away June 15, 2022, at his residence in Rapid City.
David was born August 11, 1947, in Allentown, PA, to Homer and Lorraine (Schmeltzle) Gehman.
David proudly served in the U.S. Air Force until his honorable discharge and retirement in 1985. After David's retirement from the Air Force, he worked on government contracts for ITT as a Defense Early Warning System Inspector, a fuel depot manager at Shepherd AFB, TX and Midway Island Naval Air Station; and a world-wide Spare Parts Planner for QUANTUM. He lived in Edgemont, SD when he retired from QUANTUM and later moved to Rapid City, SD.
David is survived by his wife, Beverly of Rapid City; son, Matthew (Marisol) Gehman of Fort Worth, TX; daughter, Deanna Dougherty of Thornton, CO; stepdaughter, Lori Amen Sorber of Rapid City; son-in-law, Ron Koan of Piedmont, SD; brother, Randy (Judy) Gehman of Green Valley, AZ; sisters, Karen Rushatz of Albrightsville, PA; Sharon Fritch of Macungie, PA; Kathy (Steve) Sabo of Macungie, PA; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews..
David is predeceased by his parents, daughter, Angela Gehman, stepdaughter Kim Boner Koan, brothers-in-law Dick Rushatz and Gary Fritch.
He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Rockies fan and loved to watch and play golf. He was a friend to all and could win over the hearts of friends and family with his sense of humor. David also loved to play cards and board games and was very competitive with his grandchildren
Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 21. 2023 at St. Therese The Little Flower Catholic Church in Rapid City, S.D.
Christian Funeral Vigil will be held 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at St. Therese The Little Flower Catholic Church in Rapid City, SD.
Christian Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at St. Therese The Little Flower Catholic Church in Rapid City, SD.
Christian Funeral Committal will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday June 22, 2022, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
A memorial has been designated in David's name.
Arrangements have been placed under the local direction of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Custer, SD.
