Arthur Mower

Dennis "Duke" Arthur Mower, age 73, was welcomed into his heavenly hunting camp on Friday June 11, 2021. Duke was born on December 3, 1947 in Rapid City to Jiggs and Lucille Mower. He enjoyed growing up in Oral, SD where he spent time fishing and racing motorcycles. He attended Hot Springs High School and graduated in 1966. It was here where he shared his talent and love of music through band, choir and theatre and met the love of his life Sherry Hanson (Mower).
They wed on July 6, 1968 in Hot Springs at the United Churches. As a young man, Duke lived for his family, friends, deer hunting camp, racing motorcycles, and singing in his barbershop quartet group. Duke worked at various places in town sharing his knowledge of bookkeeping, mechanics, and all things hardware. He retired in 2000 and during this time was a master gardener and enjoyed volunteering, spending time with his grandchildren, and was an avid putzer.
Duke was known as a storyteller and had a gift for making people laugh. He loved people and would go out of his way to help anyone he could. He enjoyed collecting things – especially old things and driving around town in his pickup visiting along the way. Duke was a loyal friend, devoted son and brother, and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
