Obituary

Diane lost her short battle with lung cancer on October 16, 2018, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Diane was born in Fargo, ND, on April 14,1949, the oldest child of Dora and Jerry Carlson. She graduated from Highland Park High School in St. Paul, MN, in 1967, and entered X-ray technician school at the University of MN in Minneapolis. After completing her training, Diane worked as an x-ray technician at the University of MN and Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, MN. She married Allan Berg on November 8, 1969. Diane lived in many interesting places throughout her life including: Biloxi, MS, Vacaville, CA, Sacramento, CA, Redlands, CA, and Rapid City. While living in California she graduated from Redlands Community College with an AA degree in Business. Diane had a thriving Mary Kay consultant business and encouraged many individuals through 12 Step Groups as a presenter.

Diane loved going to the ocean, especially at San Clemente, CA, and attending concerts and plays. She volunteered recording books for the blind in Redlands. She was a faithful friend, maintaining friendships from as far back as high school. She also loved living in the Black Hills and the slower pace of life in SD. She enjoyed playing Mahjong, dominoes, cribbage, her Bible Study at Faith Lutheran Church and activities with her Ruth Circle. She was a breast cancer survivor and encouraged many women in their struggles. Diane had only lived in Rapid City for two years, but made lasting friendships and memories with her SD family. We will mourn her passing but are grateful she knew Jesus and is now resting safely in his arms.

Diane is survived by her two daughters, Jean (Jay) Molyneux, Yucaipa, CA; and Jennifer Berg, Pomona, CA; and one grandson, Kade Berg-Cacao, Riverside, CA; sisters, Janet (Ted) Moeller, Hot Springs, SD; and Joanne (Jim) Benson, San Antonio, TX; nieces Holli (David) Watkin, Summerset, SD; Katie (Matty) Kasprenski, Kailua, HI; Samantha Benson, Seattle, WA; great-nieces Abby and Brianna Montiel; and a great-nephew, Theo Montiel, Summerset, SD.

She is preceeded in death by her mother and father.

Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2018, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Rapid City with Pastor Warren Lahammer officiating.
