Dolores J. Hartupee, age 86, of Hot Springs, SD, received her angel wings on September 2, 2016, at Seven Sisters Nursing Home in Hot Springs with her daughter, Sue, at her side holding her hand.

Dolores was born on June 11, 1930, to Walter and Eleanor (Eickelman) Schwaab in St. Louis, MO. In her early life and teenage years Dolores volunteered as nursing assistant in St. Louis, MO. She met and married Robert A. Carpenter. Before settling in Hot Springs, Dolores resided in Missouri, Florida and Colorado. She obtained an associate's degree from Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs, CO. She used all her knowledge as a mother, servant of God and her education to enrich the lives of schoolchildren in both public and Lutheran schools throughout her career. She was warmly addressed as Miss Dee.

She is survived by her children, David (Vicki) Carpenter of St. Louis, MO; Christopher (Theresa Jensen) of Brookings, SD; Jim (Lisa) Carpenter of Colorado Springs, CO; Joseph Carpenter (Marletta Red Cloud) of Rapid City, SD; daughters, Susan (Robert Terry III) Galeano of Hot Springs, SD; Kathryn Morris of Madina, NY; brother, Richard Schwaab of TX; 20 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Dolores is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth Schwaab; Jack Schwaab; sons in law, Richard Galeano and James (Jimbo) Morris; and daughter in law, Margie Carpenter.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2016, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Hot Springs with Rev. Gary Jacobsen.

A memorial has been established in Dolores' name to benefit the Bethesda Lutheran School in Hot Springs, SD.
