Obituary

Donald 'Butch' Flowers was born in Hutchinson, KS, on June 19, 1959, to Betty and Donald Flowers. He was raised with his older sister, Cindy; younger brother, Bobby and baby sister, Tina, in Littleton, CO.

Butch completed his journey with us on April 24, 2021, at 12:45 p.m. Butch started working at a young age and in 9th grade he started working full time to provide for his family. He loved horses and was able to pursue a career that started with caring for them, however he quickly moved towards training and breaking them. Butch was a die-hard Bronco fan and his passions included fishing, hiking, camping and any outdoor activity. While working on the race tracks he met Patricia (Patty) Avis and shortly after married her on February 18, 1980. Not long after they introduced their first-born son, Matt, into their family and Amber followed soon after. Butch continued his career with horses at the Arapahoe Hunt Club in Littleton, CO. Working with horses was the highlight of his career. In 1988, Jacob was born into the family and later, baby sister, Shanti, followed.
While living in Hot Springs, Butch worked at the elementary school for 5 years as a janitor, he also worked at the Mammoth Site and the Wild Horse Sanctuary. Butch was known most for his hard work, a jack of all trades, Butch worked from the heart.

After Butch retired he spent his time building his home from the ground up, he did this rain or shine. Butch was determined to leave the legacy of his 18 acres and the house he built, to his wife of 41 years, 4 children and 9 grandchildren. His grandchildren meant the world to him. He loved us all so very much. One thing about Butch is he was a wonderful father but even a better grandfather.

His family and friends are forever grateful for his presence in their lives and will always miss him.

Services were held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 and his ashes were spread down the canyon of his land.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs, SD.
