Obituary
Donn Lyle Bastian, 85, of Hot Springs, SD, died July 21, 2011 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Hot Springs.
Donn was born October 25, 1925, at Webster, SD, to Florice and Elias Bastian. He grew up in Huron. In 1944 he enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1946. He attended South Dakota State University and graduated in 1950. In November 1950 he married Jean Knutson. He worked for the Soil Conservation Service until his retirement in 1974.
Donn enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and flying radio control airplanes.
Survivors include his wife, Jean of Hot Springs; three children, Diane (Gary) Kost of Aberdeen, SD; Bruce (Mileen) Bastian of Omaha, NE and Craig (Shannon) Bastian of Casper, WY; brother, Warren (Betty) Bastian of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren, Kyle and Kayla Kost; and Caitlin Grosenheider.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hot Springs. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
A memorial has been established in Donn's name to benefit St. John's Lutheran Church in Hot Springs.
