Dorothy M. Fetters, age 98, of Weyauwega, WI, passed away after a brief illness, May 9, 2015, at the home of her daughter, Barb Fetters, MD, near Hot Springs, SD

Dorothy was born May 18, 1916, in Neenah, WI, the daughter of Christ and Frances (Simon) Christensen. Dorothy grew up in Neenah, attended St. Pat's grade school in Menasha, and graduated from Neenah High School in 1934. She married Wayne Fetters on September 29, 1945. Dorothy worked at a variety of secretarial jobs over the years, including Leiber Lumber Company, Kimberly Clark, and during World War Two, she was a secretary at the Maritime Commission in Washington D.C. Later, after the children left home, Dorothy was a legal secretary for Di Renzo and Bomier. She loved birds and the outdoors, and was a Girl Scout Leader for 15 years. She was an active member of St. Margaret Mary Church in Neenah and, after retiring to White Lake near Weyauwega, St Peter and Paul church. She was secretary for the White Lake Preservation Association for 20 years. Dorothy enjoyed tennis, swimming, golf, reading, bridge and belonged to bridge clubs in Neenah, Fremont and Waupaca. In fact, Dorothy was playing bridge up until her recent illness.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Earl) Tweed, James (Patricia) Fetters, Mary Fetters, Barbara (Patrick Russell) Fetters, Margaret (Bill) Smith. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Gretchen Tweed Canaday, Eric Tweed, Ben, Bridget, Katie and Sam Fetters, Teresa (Matt) Ward, Molly (Abe) Nowlan and Wayne Russell; Three great grandsons: Johan Canaday, Emmett Tweed, and Tyler Ward. Additionally, Dorothy is survived by her brother Walter (Rose) Christensen, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Dorothy in death, in addition to Wayne and her parents: daughter, Frances; brothers, James; Will; John and sisters, Florence and Ruth.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs, with Fr. Kerry Prendiville as Celebrant. Interment will be held in the St. Margaret Cemetery in Neenah, WI. A fellowship gathering will be held from 1:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 17, 2015, at The Crossings Supper Club, E5046 N. Shore Road, Weyauwega, WI 54983.

Memorials have been established in Dorothy's name to benefit either the Red Cloud Indian School or the White Lake Preservation Association.
