Dorothy Clara Luck, age 92, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away December 15, 2015, at the Pine Hills Retirement Center in Hot Springs.

Dorothy was born March 31, 1923, to Harry and Elsie (Sasse) Whittle, at Monango, ND. The family moved to the Willow Lake and Vienna vicinity, when she was a few months old. Dorothy attended school in the Vienna area.

Dorothy married Harold Luck of Hazel, SD, in 1946. They lived on a farm in the Hazel area until 1954, when they moved to Martin SD, where Harold was a Standard Oil Bulk agent. He retired in 1973, and they moved to Hayti, SD. Dorothy raised a blended family of Ronald Leo, Jacquelyne, Joann, Janet, and Harold E. Harold passed away, May 2, 1998. Dorothy moved to Watertown and then to Hot Springs to be near her daughter.

Dorothy was a life time member of the American Legion auxiliary and she was very proud that five of her grandchildren joined the armed forces.

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Jackie Uhl of Hot Springs; Janet Trim of Sacramento, CA; daughter-in-law, Janice Whittle of Martin; sisters, Alice Ohlsen of Loveland, CO; Marlene Rider Nelson of Watertown, SD; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren, as well as special friends, Jim and Mary Ekstrom.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Ronald Whittle; Harold Luck, Jr.; daughter, Joann Baldwin; brothers, Donald Whittle; Leo Whittle; Kenny Whittle; and sister, Helen Rider, and great grandson Brandon Whittle.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 21, 2015, with a viewing beginning at 1:00 p.m., at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home in Hot Springs. Interment will be held at a later date at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Watertown, SD.
