IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward 'Ed'
Bowker
October 19, 1953 – February 15, 2022
Edward "Ed" James Bowker, 68, passed away at the Monument Hospice House on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. Ed was born on October 19, 1953 to Gene and Ida Bowker in Hot Springs, SD. Ed was the third of 6 children born to Gene and Ida.
Ed was married to Colleen Harmon on May 1, 1982 with this union brought a daughter, Billie, whom Ed adopted in 1989. Ed and Colleen lived on the Bowker ranch Southeast of Oral for several years before moving into Hot Springs.
Ed worked for the State of South Dakota for over 24 years as a County Extension Agent. He retired from the State of South Dakota in 2002. Ed made an impact on many 4-H kids throughout the state of South Dakota with continual involvement with 4-H from a cabin ambassador at 4-H camp at Camp Bob Marshall, to the involvement he had with the Fall River and Custer County Fairs. Ed's Granddaughter Kaycee liked to say that there was not a town she visited or someone she talked to at least once a week that didn't know her Grandpa.
Ed's love for his family showed in everything he did. He made sure that his wife knew his love for her in his little acts of getting her flowers or telling her to buy something nice for herself just because. Ed tried to make it to as many Basketball, Volleyball, or track meets that Billie was in as he could. He also helped out with 4-H projects where he could. Ed's grandchildren Kaycee Walter, Stockten Walter, and Corinne Thompson were the apple of his eye. He was always ready to read them a story, come up with some goofy face or story for them, be a make-up model, build a golf course, or just about anything that the kids would come up with.
Ed is survived by his wife Colleen, daughter Billie Bowker, sister Peggy (Rick) Egloff, brother Curt Bowker, sister Susie West, sister Jeannie Bowker, granddaughter Kaycee Walter, grandson Stockten Walter, granddaughter Corinne Thompson, Uncle Dennis (Meta) Bowker, Uncle Gary (Dixie) Bowker, Sister-in-law Pat (Jerry) Collogan, sister-in-law Cathy Lensing, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents Gene and Ida Bowker, Mother-in-law Mariann Langer, Uncles Bob Bowker, Donnie Bowker, Steve Bowker, and Brother Larry Lensing.
