Edward Francis Mooney, age 93, of Custer, SD, passed away on February 19, 2015, at the Custer Regional Senior Care Center in Custer.
Edward was born in Alton, IL, on November 5, 1921, to John and Margaret (Fuchs) Mooney. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII from 1942, until his honorable discharge in 1945. He was married 73 wonderful years to his beloved wife Mary Ann (Bund) Mooney. He worked as an installer for Illinois Bell Telephone in Mount Vernon and was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was also involved with the Army Air Corps WWII Veterans, Army Air Corps Glee Club, the Mount Vernon AMVETS Post #4, and the Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141.
He is survived by wife, Mary Ann Mooney of Custer; son, Michael (Sandra) Mooney of Custer; daughter, Carol (Charles) Halverson of Libertyville, IL ; 4 grandchildren, Monica Mooney-Denny, Leslie Mooney-Deglman, Teresa Halverson-White, Peter Halverson; great grandchildren, Anthony, Austin, and Iris Mooney- Denny, Rebecka Deglman, Karen and Rachel White, Elsa and Stig Halverson; and one great great grandchild, Michael John Deglman.
